Software Test Automation Engineer for Medical Devices

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Software Test Engineer with a strong background in embedded devices to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for software testing and test automation. Experience with the Robot Framework will be highly valued. As a Software Test Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in setting up, maintaining, and improving our test automation system for our embedded medical devices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Create, review, and execute automated tests for high-performance software applications such graphical user interfaces for embedded devices
• Review requirements with focus on testability
• Setup, maintain, and improve our test automation framework
• Verify sprint deliverables such as binaries and documentation
• Contribute to our test framework community to improve testing company-wide
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other software engineers to implement new features for medical ventilation devices as part of a cross-functional Scrum team
• Strong emphasis on creation and maintenance of meaningful technical documentation for reference and reporting

Your profile:

• At least 3 years of experience as a test automation engineer for embedded devices
• Practice in setting up, maintaining, and improving test automation systems including hardware and software integration testing
• Knowledge of Python and Robot Framework will be a big Plus
• Practice with test framework on embedded systems, e.g. on Raspberry Pi
• Knowledge of image detection and optimization (e.g. cropping, segmentation, mask selection, and edge detection) and experience with use of common tools, such as OpenCV
• Practice with version control systems like Git and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps
• Basic networking skills like SSH, Telnet, TCP/UDP, Unix Sockets
• Experience with Docker, Pytest, Labgrid, and Grafana is a plus
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
• Experience in requirements engineering is a plus
• Certification in test management like ISTQB CTFL or CTAL-TAE is a plus
• Structured, independent, self-organized, and reliable work in an agile team
• Good communication skills and secure English in spoken and written form
